BIOGRAPHY

I was born in Hawaii during the tail end of the baby-boomer generation. After some obligatory piano lessons, I picked trombone as my main instrument for high school and college. Although I toyed with the idea of a music major in college, practicality prevailed and I majored in computer science.

Music took a background as I dove into my career, although I played some trombone and dabbled with other instruments, most seriously with the alto recorder.

About four years ago, I started taking voice lessons with Becca Stuhlbarg at Vox Academy and began studying the ukulele more seriously, most recently with Maria Olaya.

Since retiring from full time work in software engineering in 2017, I have been renewing my dedication to music.

I sing with two choirs (The Healing Voices Choir and The Bravo! Chorus) and play trombone with the Vancouver Community Concert Band and the pit orchestra for Light Opera of Portland. I play ukulele and sing at open mics in the area and perform various retirement centers.
